KAI Global School offers what we call “Collaboration Credits”.
These credits involve an approved third party to meet the practical requirements of the Curriculum Expectations of a course.
KAI Global School tracks the expectations, verifies the third party and communicates with the third party to verify hours and curriculum expectations are met. KAI provides any theory or missing expectations via way of lessons, discussions and projects. KAI will administer a Rich Summative Task and/or Exam worth 30% of the final grade.
In this course, students will delve into various topics concerning families in Canada to pinpoint areas for research and inquiry. They will acquire the skill of formulating effective questions to steer their investigations, recording and organizing information using diverse formats. The course will guide students in demonstrating their understanding of the general research process by reflecting on and evaluating their research, inquiry, and communication skills.
Moreover, students will develop the ability to locate and select pertinent information for their investigations from both primary and secondary sources. They will also learn to assess various aspects of the information gathered from these sources, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the research topics.
In this course, students will cultivate the ability to demonstrate academic honesty by meticulously documenting the sources of all information generated through research. They will also learn to employ an appropriate format for effectively communicating the results of their research and inquiry tailored to a specific purpose and audience.
Furthermore, students will gain insights into explaining individual development across the lifespan, drawing from a variety of theoretical perspectives on development. They will also develop the skills to record and organize information and key ideas using various formats.
Additionally, students will delve into the assessment of research pertaining to sex-based similarities and differences, as well as gender-based similarities and differences. The course will explore how norms, values, and expectations influence individual decisions throughout the lifespan, along with the impact of current social trends, issues, and challenges on individual development.
In this course, students will develop the skill of locating and selecting pertinent information for their investigations from a diverse range of primary and/or secondary sources. They will learn to effectively record and organize information and key ideas using various formats, ensuring clarity in communicating the results of their inquiries. Additionally, students will be guided to follow APA conventions for acknowledging sources.
Moreover, the course will delve into the analysis of ways in which social norms and expectations can influence the establishment and maintenance of healthy intimate relationships. Students will also learn to outline strategies for both avoiding and responding to various types of violence and abuse within intimate relationships.
In this unit, students will explore the functions of the family, elucidating how these functions are fulfilled across diverse family structures. They will analyze the influence of significant social and economic changes on the historical evolution of the family. Additionally, students will evaluate government policies and legislation designed to support and safeguard families.
Furthermore, the unit will delve into the role of the family as an agent of socialization, considering variations across different cultures, historical periods, and among groups with diverse religious backgrounds. Students will also learn to compare the roles of children within the family and society across various cultures and historical eras. An analysis of the impact of social institutions on the socialization of family members will be an integral part of this exploration.
In this unit, students will gain insights into the foundations of social change, focusing on the profound technological forces driving these transformations. The impact of these technological changes on Canadian teenagers will be a key area of exploration. Students will learn to articulate the broader societal impacts of technological changes and understand how Canadians are specifically affected.
Moreover, students will develop research and inquiry skills, enabling them to interpret, synthesize, and analyze research findings, with practical applications to their own investigations. The unit will also equip students with the knowledge and skills to effectively use social media as a platform for advocating issues or causes they care passionately about.
Rich Task Summative: 30%
This summative task, assigned at the culmination of the course, consolidates various expectations covered throughout. It is designed to assess and evaluate a student's ability to demonstrate understanding not only through the final product but also through conversation and observation. This comprehensive evaluation aims to gauge the depth of comprehension and application of the course expectations.

Grade 12 HHS4U, Families in Canada examines issues and challenges facing individuals and families in Canada’s diverse society. In this course, students will draw on sociological, anthropological and psychological theories and research to examine factors affecting families and assess policies and practices intended to support Canadian families.Social sciences and humanities courses focus on the use of disciplined, structured inquiry to understand human beings, human behaviour, and human nature. These courses promote the use of reason as part of the structured inquiry process, while also recognizing the limitations of reason as a way of learning, knowing, and understanding.
